1. Can you introduce yourself and tell a little bit about your background?
Hi, my name is Rajiv and I am currently pursuing my bachelors in Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay. Before this, I completed my Intermediate (+1 and +2) from Narayana College, Hyderabad and my schooling from St. Gabriel’s High School, Warangal.

2. How and when did you realize your passion?
Passion! hmm.. well I was trying hard in my childhood to know my passion, but trust me this is the one question which even haunts me today. I love sports, I like songs, I enjoy dancing, I am good at studies. I was trying whatever came my way. I am not really sure what my passion is. In scientific terms, I cannot define it uniquely… But if your question is when did you decide to be in the career that I am right now .. Until 8th class, I was not really sure of anything like this is what I have to take up next or this what I have to become.. So when I thought about it there was only one thing which I am very good at i.e. solving problems (especially in maths and physics). I felt this could be the platform which could give me a satisfying path. Then I came to know of IITs’, which are the institutes of nation’s pride. They are the best in the country in undergraduate education and the best part is that the study over there is nothing but an advancement of my favourite subjects (maths and physics). So I took MPC course along with IIT coaching in my 11th and 12th classes where I came across a lot of challenging problems which made me even more love the subjects. Thus I gave JEE to get an admission into IIT. And till now that’s one of the best things that has ever happened to me.

3. How much of an impact did Narayana have on your current path?
In short, if my path was to reach the top of building whose height is not known..and when I was standing there thinking can I/can I not walk all the way to the top .., Narayana appeared as a lift which is just going that way. If I walked, I had to spend a lot of energy but in the lift, the lift does the work against gravity and we just sit inside just waiting to reach the top. It not only acted as a lift, even the journey had a lot of things, the best of all, the strive towards perfection which comes down hierarchically down to each and every person I met in the lift unknowingly inculcated that habit in me. Well the lift journey is not as easy as we think. As I am going in the lift for the first time and we all know how hard to keep our calm once the lift takes off. For me travelling in the lift for the first time is nothing less than a space mission because there is no guarantee that lift doesn’t fall off in the middle. But there was constant support and motivation from the people which added to my existing confidence and I was able to hold my nerve till the end. From then on.. not even a rocket journey could frighten me… Well if I keep on thinking I can actually get a lot of things, more of all I think it all was possible because of the good understanding (you may call rapo) between the institute and me. It’s experiences will always be with me!

4. Any advice/suggestion for students at Narayana Education Institutions?
“At any given moment you have the power to say, this is not how the story is going to end.”

Anything you would like to add Hmm.. Well I would like to add a lot of quotes..because every quote I came across I either tried to follow it religiously or tried to prove it wrong with all my might.. For example I tried to prove this one wrong “Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you haven’t planted.” Because working hard never made any point to me (partially also because I was lazy.) So I tried a lot to work less and get success, but for some reason or the other, it didn’t happen and finally I realized that yeah hard work certainly helps and even if it didn’t, you could at least be satisfied with yourself that you have put in the best of your effort. And this attitude towards these quotes have helped me a lot in building up myself. And I hope that will help you all too if you tried it with whole heart. Let me sign off with this quote… “I don’t believe you have to be better than everybody else. I believe you have to be better than you ever thought you could be.”
