About The Project:
AIM:
To utilize solar energy efficiently to generate more electricity. To conserve natural resources for future.

PRINCIPLE:
It works on the principle, the way the sunflower toward the sun similarly the sensors on the panel of our prototype device tracks the sun and turns it in the direction where the solar intensity is more. It absorbs complete solar energy and converts it into electrical energy.

APPARATUS
Solar panel, stepper motor, LDR Sensors, embedded interface.

Description:
A 230V a.c input is given across step-down transformer. A voltage of 12V is generated across secondary coil. As this is alternating current it needs to the rectified. The rectification process is done with the help of a four bridge diode. It undergoes full wave rectification. The d.c current is purified with the help of filters.
This is connected to the embedded interface. The main component of our project is micro controller. It is loaded with entire software related to the working of the system. In this project, we have used LDR (light dependent resistors) which detects the intensity of light. These two sensors send analog signals to ADC (Analog to digital convertor) and ADC sends digital signals to micro controller. The micro controller then sends signal to motor drives to rotate the stepper motor in the direction of sun. The stepper motor connected with shaft to solar panel rotates towards the direction of sun.

ADVANTAGES AND APPLICATIONS:

1. Solar energy is free although there is a cost in the building of ‘collectors’ and other equipment required to convert solar energy into electricity or hot water.

2. Solar energy does not cause pollution. However, solar collectors and other associated equipment / machines are manufactured in factories that in turn cause some pollution.

3. Solar energy can be used in remote areas where it is too expensive to extend the electricity power grid.

4. Many everyday items such as calculators and other low power consuming devices can be powered by solar energy effectively.

5. It is estimated that the worlds oil reserves will last for 30 to 40 years. On the other hand, solar energy is infinite (forever).
