Advanced Research Center (ARC), world class laboratory with all advanced infrastructure started at Narayana Medical Institution on January 2012. ARC has been recognised by Department of Science and Technology (Govt. of India) and this center engages in research related to Micronutrients, Stem Cell Therapeutics, Experimental, Cancer Biology and Epidemiology under a single roof.
In a sequence of development of quality of Research and Technology, NMCH organized a national level work shop entitled “Recent Advances of Real Time PCR & Flow Cytometry in Diagnostics & Various Research Applications on 26th march-2015 at Anatomy Lecture Gallery-I, Narayana Medical College, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, INDIA.
Approximately 100 participants like scientists, academic faculties and research students were participated from various institutions and learn these techniques and exposed practically. Director Dr. G. Subrahmanyam inaugurated the program said that this workshop will provide platform for researches and students to learn recent techniques in the field of medical, genetic and biotechnological research. He also express happy to organize this workshop at Narayana Medical Group at first time in Coastal Andhra Pradesh region.
Dr. G. Veera Nagi Reddy Principal of NMC said the Advanced Research Center of NMCH organized this workshop to introduce the students into current updated technology and it also uplift the institution’s quality.
Dr. S. Vijaya Kumar coordinator of NMC also express happy for conducting this workshop at NMC campus.
Dr. Mahaboob Vali Shaik. Scientist and Incharge of ARC acts as convener for this program. He himself deliver lectures and demonstrated these scientific and technical procedures to all participants.
Workshop Highlights:
Fluorescent Activated Cell Sorting (FACS) or Flow Cytometry is widely used in basic and clinical research. To harness the real power of this state of art technique, appropriate experimental designing and accurate analysis of FACS data are crucial. Correct data analysis is not only important but also critical to adequately identify or functionally characterize the multiple populations of interest within the system. In the last few years, the number of parameters (colors) simultaneously used in flow cytometry experiments has increased. This is enabled by the availability of high-end instruments and powerful data analysis tools.
In other hands, Real Time PCR holds the great promise to diagnose emerging infectious and non-infectious diseases and various genetic diseases.

In this workshop, morning section, we cover preparation of sample, operating procedure, analysis of multicolor flow cytometry data and guidelines for the correct data analysis. All participants learned to generate graphical and statistical reports to identify various populations of interest. In after section, Real time PCR workflow procedure and its various applications have been demonstrated. Potential technical issues with the data will also discussed. Study material was provided which include lectures, procedure published articles and Flow Cytometry & Real Time PCR list discussions.
